Help keel viko 23

Hello i am from Portugal and i own a viko23 2013, and i am replacing the cable that lowers the keel.

When i put the boat on the lift i was suprised to se a steel cable hanging like it was broken

Can you help me and tell me what is this steel cable for?

Das Kielschwert auf dem Bild kommt deutlich weiter raus als üblich. Vermutlich war das Schwert ursprünglich nur so weit herausgelassen, wie es mit weißer Farbresten bedeckt ist (das schwarze Dreieck oben bleibt im Rumpf). Vermutlich gehört das Stahlseil dazu, dass das Kielschwert nicht zu weit herunterfällt (als Endanschlag).
Wie es bei meinem Boot aussieht (ganz ausgefahren) siehst Du in meiner Nachricht vom 17. Mai 2025 um 23:43 Uhr:

The keel in the picture extends significantly further than usual. Maybe the keel was originally only extended as far as it's covered with white paint residue (the black triangle at the top remains inside the hull). The steel cable is likely there to prevent the keel from dropping too far (acting as a stop).
